last day!!!!oops,,not yet!

finally, this is my last day of internship at rmn! its nice that i was assigned to police beat once again with archie.. we were with sir labay again, the reporter for quezon city..but there's this bad news...father of sir labay just died that's why he's feeling bad that day and didn't have the mood to report...this was the reason why were asking ourselves what's the point of giving us this beat? so there...we went around quezon city...from one government agency to another because sir labay was asking for financial help from government officials..
around 4pm, someone called sir labay that there's a fetus found along betty go belmonte street in quezon city...we went there, excited and thrilled thining that at least we will be able to write a news script that day... but no...when we arrived, everything went bad for me...to see a fetus(almost a baby) thrown by his own mother isn't exciting after all...i couldn't imagine how his mother had the guts to throw her own child...we were dismissed at 6:30.
the next day. i went to rmn to submit my reports to the deskmen...i thought i won't stay there for long cause im already finished...but then, one of the deskman asked if i can still render my service and go to megamall as their booth exhibitor in the job fair...i said yes and we went to megamall with daniel, also a pup intern...we stayed there until 3pm and went back to the station...
i thought i will be able to get my evaluation that day but as to my surprise, we still have to do some examination as part of tyhe grading process...awwmaaan!!!so there...i still have to wait for the other interns to finish their intership so we can take the exmas together...CROSSFINGERS!!!

day 15 & 16: station and congress

im not gonna talk about the things that we did at the station coz its all the same man! except for some instances that left me dumbfounded!hahaha (its just that there are some people in the station that are really got into my/our nerves!)
day 16, we were assigned to the congress to cover the hearing of the impeachment filed by former speaker Jose De Venecia...as usual, we saw lots of political and media personalities.. its just nice that every time we're sent to this kind of beat, people really treat us like real media people..sometimes they talk to us, we take our lunch with them, and by just simply giving us smiles really make us feel that we belong..anyway, the hearing went really hot between the minority and majority 'cause nobody wanna lose...but what can they do? majority wins,as always! after the hearing we immediately ran after those congressmen for an interview (just like real reporters do!) its really tiring to ran after them but there's this some kind of rush that will keep you going with times like this, i don't know...so there, our day at the congress was fun and at the same time fulfilling...

day 11-14:a day at the Malacanang and the rest...station.

basically, we spent the week at the station. but we were given the opportunity to be at the Malacanang Press Office for half a day(yeah, half a day!and i don't want to mention why). so there...we didn't stay for that long because we had a bad experience with the PSG and the Malacanang reporter...a miscommunication between the three parties...then the rest of the week were spent at the station rendering assistance at the public service and i also had the chance to do a live reporting with sir buddy oberas' news express where i did a good news report. it was fun and an addition to my internship experience..and slowly, knowing the rmn people and capturing some advices from them that i know will be very helpful in the future...that's all for now...

day 7-10: Station mode

yeah, you heard it right..we spent our second week at the radio station.at first i thought it was going to be boring but the days proved me wrong..basically we were tasked to render our assistance to the public service where people from different walks of life come to voice their complains...the public service is actually for the programs Wanted sa radyo of Sir raffy Tulfo, ito ang batas of atty.aga arellano and bantay ofw...we assist them during registration and sometimes, we were given a chance to hear their story like lawyers do..hahaha..its just sad because there i realized that there are a lot of complains but weren't given proper attention by the authorities.. i heard stories of rape, murder, estafa, hit and run, abused employees and such...thank God that there's a place that they could run to like RMN! yeah! hahaha and yeah! we also did an on air interview with Sir Buddy Oberas (my recent crush!) about our learnings at their station...so there...above were the common activities that we do at the station...and of course, bonding time with rmn people!

day 5: QCPD

for the second time, my beatmates and I were assigned to police beat. but this time, at the quezon city police district. there we met sir silvestre labay, the qcpd beat reporter of rmn. first stop was at the pasig market place where an inauguration took place. we were running after senator viller that time, but unfortunately we weren't able to see him.
next was at the st.lukes medical center where a rally was held against jocjoc bolante. we did some interview with some activists and wrote news script from that event. seems like my writing powers was at its best that time because when sir silvestre read my script, he decided to use it for his next live report.hehehe.
after that we went to DAR. we took our lunch at the canteen while sir labay went to an office. we did't stay that for long because we went LTO right after our lunch.
we stayed at the press office and met some of the qc beat reporters. sir labay gave us some press releases and asked us to make a news script.i don't know but heaven was so nice because sir labay used the script again (without editing!) for his live report.woooooh!
we went back to qcpd and there we rested ourselves for a while..uhm,at five,we were dismissed!hehehe

day 2,3,and 4: senate beat!

after that police beat adventure, next beat that we conquered was the senate beat...uhm, at first, it was really boring because there is no real senate session that day because the senators were still on vacation.what happened that day was a budget hearing for different cultural, housing, and youth developments agencies..so there...we were so sleepy that morning until senator jinggoy entered the scene..the hearing was about the budget for film development council and optical media board (yes, edu manzano was there). it was when senator jinggoy asked a question that was not answered perfectly by the two chairmen that brought the hearing to hullabaloo..the senator raised his voice and was really livid that made him decide to reduce the budget of the said agencies,THAT EASY! so there...every after hearing, sir mike (rmn senate beat reporter) asked us to write news script from hearings and press releases of the senators.usually we stay at the senate press office with the other reporters like maricar bautista, linda jumilia and others.hahaha.
next day.were still at the senate (oooh, seems like sir mike like us!) and there would still be some budget hearings. this time, it was for DTI,DPWH,DENR and DOTC. gosh! i never expected this day to be like this! we were so lucky to have sir mike as our mentor for the senate beat because he was really generous in letting us to experience the real "reporter thing". we joined the media team as they wait for different personalities. we got the chance to talk with senator angara, lito atienza(denr),peter favila(dti) and others.im really happy and proud because i discovered that we can now go out the field and do those kind of things. after that we took our lunch at the senate lounge with different press people courtesy of ms.linda, media relations officer of sen. mar roxas(did i mention that we have our free lunch everyday at the senate?)our second day at the senate was really fulfilling and were so happy to experience those activities.
third day at the senate was some kind of relax time because there was no hearing...we just wrote news script from senate press releases and listen to some lecture on radio news writing from sir mike (he always do that anyway). but this time.....we learned a lot of political intrigues! excited??? uhm,not this time,i guess...i'll keep you hanging for a while..

day 1:Police Beat

ok...so this is really my first day on my radio internship..i arrived at the station at exactly 6a.m in the morning.actually i was with my other classmates, mearah and archie, my "beatmates" hahaha (new word!). we stayed in the station until 9a.m because we're still waiting for the go signal of the reporter for the police beat.
first stop was the Pasay City Press Office. There we met some of the police beat reporters from different radio stations and some journalists of different newspapers. one thing that i've noticed and really caught our attention was that reporters from different stations were actually sharing their news bits!!! at first, i thought it was kinda wrong until Sir Ariel (police beat reporter of rmn) explained that it a usual thing for them. He also told us that even if they are sharing news, they still have to do some research for them to be able to find other focus on that lead (i guess that's safe).
second stop, hahaha, well it was already lunch time so we decided to take our meal first before the police adventure. but wait! there's more! Sir Ariel treated us for lunch! hahaha lucky day it is!
After that lunch/bonding time, we went to Makati Central Police Station and there, Sir ariel got some sample of blotter then,he asked us to write a flash report from that source. Actually, he was about to do a live flash report that time. so while we're on the road, we we're writing the news piece. it was fun and at the same time, nervewracking because we're under time pressure. after that, he gathered our news pieces and right there and then, he wrote a flash report using those pieces. it was such a nice experience because we were able to show our knowledge in news writing and ofcourse, our talent in cramming!hahaha
third stop, Pasay City again but this time, we went to the Special actions on Illegal Drugs and there we we're able to meet and do some talks with Police Chief Inspector Darwin Butulayan. the interview was generally about how Pasay police try to eradicate illegal drugs in their community.
after the talk, Sir Ariel gave us another challenge to write a news piece about that interview. so there, we did the news piece while making our way to NAIA!!!
we're done making the news piece when we arrived at the airport(maybe now you're curious why we went to the airport..just wait) and after we found our parking space, we stopped for some live show!hahaha what i mean is that sir ariel decided to record the news pieces that we wrote and gave us some practical advice on news writing and news reporting.Sir ariel was so nice...we know that he is already tired working all day for him to still give us a lecture on news reporting. we really learned a lot from him.
Last stop,,,NAIA!!! nope! it's not what you're thinking..we're not flying to another country or whatsoever...Sir Ariel brought us to the Media Affairs Office of Manila International Airport and there we met the head of the media affairs. we did a short interview and asked some intriguing questions like the arrival of Bolante and how their office handled the crazy media..hahaha
there you have it...my first day of radio internship...whew!!! it was a really long and tiring day but i learned so many things, met a lot of people in the media industry and....a free lunch!hahaha oh, by the way, tomorrow our beat is at the senate!

what beat?

so there...after we got our kbp id,we went to rmn station to present other documents needed for us to be able to start our internship...while we were waiting, someone approached me to go to an office and look for Sir Willie. As to my surprise, Sir Willie asked me if im free on sunday(why?for a date?hahaha).I said yes and asked why, then he told me that i'll be guesting a segment on his program called tech-talk. well, its a program about science and technology, kind of ernie baron show...so there...it was a fun experience and thank you to sir willie for giving me that chance..after that we were assigned to different beats.my other friends were assigneed to senate, malacanang, etc.what beat was assigned to me?get ready.....POLICE BEAT!exciting isn't it? i already have some experince on this kind of beat in our broadcast journalaism class. but im really looking forward to this because i know this time its for REAL! and i want MORE!
